Pilot 2.6

The Pilot 2.6 project, born from the collaboration between the University of Calabria and the University of Milan Bicocca, aims to develop an innovative Information and Communication Technology (ICT) system for monitoring the health conditions of people in remote mountainous areas. The main goal is to ensure the effective collection and management of health data, providing the necessary information to monitor and address potential health issues in areas with limited access to healthcare facilities and medical professionals. Among the types of data collected are health indicators such as heart rate, blood pressure, glucose levels, and other health indicators that can be monitored remotely through dedicated sensors. Another fundamental aspect is data collection through questionnaires, designed to capture symptoms and health conditions of participants. These questionnaires include questions related to symptoms such as chest pain, dyspnea or breathing difficulties, heart palpitations, headaches, dizziness, syncope or fainting, cough, and weakness or asthenia. All collected data is then used to provide a continuous assessment of the patient’s health status, allowing timely and personalized interventions without the immediate need for hospital facilities. The security and privacy of the collected data are fundamental pillars of the project, with advanced mechanisms to ensure that patient information is treated with the utmost confidentiality and security. The goal is to create an environment in which patients feel safe sharing their health data, knowing that it will be used exclusively to improve the quality of the care received. Pilot 2.6 represents an evolution of the SmartCampus project, born in the Covid era to help manage spaces at the University of Calabria. Starting from this base, this application will be improved and evolved by developing new features aimed at health monitoring. SmartCampus, with its applications for contact tracing, QR code scanning for classroom and space management, simple data collection, and facilitated communication, has provided a solid foundation on which to build. Primarily addressing mountain communities and people with chronic diseases, Pilot 2.6 represents a step towards more accessible and proactive healthcare management.
