From Idea to Enterprise: Innovating in Healthcare

Innovating in healthcare does not only mean developing new technologies, but also knowing how to bring them to market, making them sustainable, accessible, and integrated into care pathways. This is the aim of “From Idea to Enterprise: Innovating in Healthcare”, the new advanced training course promoted by Fondazione Anthem in collaboration with the University of Bergamo, Politecnico di Milano (GSOM Business School), Humanitas University, and Johns Hopkins University (Carey Business School).

Starting from Spring 2026, we are developing English-language courses with credits, also open with benefits to PhD candidates and medical residents.

  • Understand the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business creation to innovate the healthcare sector
  • Explore real challenges in the healthcare sector and identify opportunities for innovation
  • Develop entrepreneurial thinking to create impactful solutions
  • Acquire practical knowledge of methodologies to start and launch new ventures in the healthcare sector

An innovative pathway to leverage opportunities offered by the integration of research, technology, and organization, promoting the development of innovative solutions in the healthcare sector.

Structure and Teaching Methodology

  • 5 modules – 40 hours over three months, delivered digitally
  • Online lessons and talks, featuring speakers from the Fondazione ANTHEM network
  • Specialist case studies
  • Faculty composed of experts from academia and industry

Output

An optional final project applied to a case of interest to be completed at the end of the course, addressing:

  • Needs analysis and potential market
  • Roadmap for business creation (timing, costs, team, resources)
  • Regulatory and patent pathway
  • Identification of strategic partners (industrial, financial, clinical)

Skills Acquired

At the end of the course, participants will have acquired:

  • An entrepreneurial approach to healthcare innovation
  • In-depth knowledge of innovative entrepreneurship models, regulatory aspects (including intellectual property protection and data management), and healthcare innovation ecosystems
